Getting There

Location: Nuquí is a municipality located in the department of Chocó on Colombia's Pacific coast, between Cabo Corrientes to the south and the Utría Inlet to the north. Inhabited mostly by African descendants with strong features who arrived four generations ago in this exotic place, it had, until then, been inhabited only by the Emberá indigenous people. South of Nuquí, approximately 35 minutes away by boat, you will find El Cantil (latitude 5º 37'28¨; longitude 77º 25' 09.2¨). Our hotel faces the beach, giving you a wonderful panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, and it's immersed in the jungle, surrounded by numerous fresh-water streams. If you love peace and tranquility, this is the perfect place for you. Treat yourself to a hidden paradise where days don't have a defined name and nights have a unique glow.

How to arrive: After you take off from Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellín the aircraft will begin to enter the jungle. The urban landscape quickly transforms itself into a thick green blanket that is broken only by sinewy threads of fresh water. Even before you land you will feel the humidity take over the atmosphere; breathing in the jungle air, you will become conscious of the importance and richness of the river basin.

A representative of El Cantil's staff will welcome you at the airport in Nuquí, confirm your return flights and take you to our speed boat, which you will embark towards your exotic destination, El Cantil Ecolodge Hotel.

Flights departing from Medellín are approximately 50 minutes long. You can also arrive via Quibdó (capital city of the Chocó department) or from Pereira (capital city of Risaralda department).

Weather: The summer months (dry season) are usually January, February, March and mid-August. The rest of the year is the rainy season, which is strongest between October and early December. Colombia's Pacific coast is a region with high rainfall, which is directly responsible for the endless amounts of tropical species of flora and fauna. Of course, the rain shouldn't hinder those who come to rest, share with nature, enjoy sports fishing, surfing or whale watching.
